The Design Process

Since the artist I focused on for my exhibition was Vanessa Stockard, I wanted to propose the theme of all of the little cats she hides in her artwork. I focused a lot of the attention within my design to fit with this theme, both with the name and the design.

While the artworks I chose for the mock exhibition were not necessarily in the same color palette as the one I used for the promotional materials, I thought it would be most effective to play into the stereotypical cartoon ‘black cat in the dark’ trope. I also used this trope to pick the lime green color, as it was the eye color I found to be commonly seen in cartoon cats.
