A Note

Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys belongs to My Chemical Romance and their appropriate record labels. All imagery and designs in this project were created for educational purposes.

The Design Process

The beginning step for me was to compile a bunch of imagery and colors seen throughout the universe created by this album, both in the music videos and the accompanying comic series. Old merch designs were consulted to see what was previously created and used as a reference to what parts of those themes would be best reproduced in new merchandise. I also noted which parts of these previous designs I did not wish to continue in the future, either based on personal preference or just from what I had seen requested online by fans.

To create the designs, I only allowed myself to create products I knew I would actually be able to order and used the design restrictions from the print shop to set limitations for myself. These were most apparent when it came to the patches, as I had a color palette of 16 options to work with for those designs rather than one that was unlimited. The shirts also proved a challenge, as the placement I had envisioned for some of the designs was not compatible with the guidelines set by the print shop, and I had to find a compromise that fit both the restrictions of the printers while also fitting the vision I had for the design.
